Maine Bald Cam Discussion & Other Cams > Chat Area > Maine forum at hostingphpBB

Posted by: Dutch Eagle Fan Sep 12 2009, 03:20 PM Something weird is going on. "Kittenface" seems to be able to get into the forum and wrote just a while ago on the BCAW forum that others were logged in too. And Jazzel wrote that she is getting notifications of PM's and topic replies on our "real" Maine forum . . . . .
I have no idea how Kittenface can get access and the rest of us not. She can also get into the old BCAW forum, which is with the same host. Even Skygirlblue, the Administrator can't get in there.
Sure makes you wonder about what is going on. More so since the new BCAW forum was hacked earlier this week. Some of us did a search and it turned out that this hacker had been very busy, many sites/forums were hacked at the same day.
I do hope everybody has their computer security up-to-date. Firewall, anti-virus program, newest versions of browsers and so on.

Nor can I!!!! This is terrible..We have nests with eggs and don't know what the heck is going on. Does Judy, administrator know. I haven't seen any posts by her for awhile. She usually tries to find out what is going on.

Tks Shoe, I guess I missed Judy's post, sorry. I did read the Maine comments but somehow without the other cams, it leaves me anxious.

Chris and Peggy. Your captions of the nest on the ground, priceless, and what I like about it is when one leaves the nest you can see where it goes. As much as I hate to have another eagle cam to watch, I can't help myself, so if you would provide me with the link?? And will I be able to watch it with all the threads down??

Morning...
Sherri... K82 layed her egg at 6:46pm PST.

Both the Catalina and Santa Cruz updates are incredible this week. Looks like there has finally been some nest-building at the West End nest and Cruz might have found herself a mate! biggrin.gif
http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCAM/index.php?showforum=11

There was also great news regarding the orphaned eaglet that Judy posted about. Make sure to watch the video. biggrin.gif

And a follow-up from yesterday:

Thanks for the update on the Eagle chick Lori! I guess they couldn't get a nest put up fast enough? I'll read the update.

Watching K82 last night was terrific!! I'm so glad I checked in when I did!

This really does stink have the forum down/gone/missing !!!

Hello Knock on wood no problems yet.. unsure.gif

First of all for anyone that doesn't know: PHPBB dot com has nothing to do with hostingphpbb dot com(our home forum) . hostingphpbb is merely a registered domain name or web page address that someone set up with a server to host forum sites.

I can't be certain if all I have read is true but this is what i dug up.. #1 Last year when we lost our forum it was because the domain name was not re-registered.. #2 It was only renewed for one year! #3 During or after the time our forum was down last time several forums were hacked.

I also read a lot of forum administrators are trying very hard to gain access to there info over the last few years to no avail. There is a lot of chit chat the people believe that they scooped up as much money as they could from ads and once they got to big to handle they pulled the plug.

There forum domain does not rank in the top 100k and is slower than 92% of all forum domains.. rolleyes.gif

OK with all that said.. huh.gif We are here now ph34r.gif and we need a place to go.. blink.gif Not going to happen over night.. sad.gif
This forum is basically the same on the home forum, http://mbec.ipbfree.com/index.php?act=idx wise. Except a few things like Will pointed out about the emotion icons does this laugh.gif look like LOL and you don't know what your clicking mad.gif anyway. I am willing to back up this forum once a week until we get a new home. I can manage up to 100gig with out a problem.
I will post a sample later of what it would come out like when posted in another blog, but as for what format or code our next home will except. That is beyond my control and along process to remove any unaccepted parts. Each thread would have to be saved separately and just over written each week, taking up little space.

Problems: If you paste a link into your post it will longer be click-able in the back up. The link creator must be used (or typed code if you can) to keep it click-able..

Judy could you please make some more threads here such as California, Colorado, eagles maybe an osprey thread and other raptors, other birds, thread we can put topics in for the individual nests after we have some threads to work with... I will go around and put links in them for you once you have if you want.. wink.gif

OK thats my 2+ cents.. Just call if you need me Chris..
